Sad Cypress

More digital art, yay! This one is a work I’ve had in mind for a few months now, but whose roots are perhaps a few years older and there are a few things mixed up.
First off, I read Sad Cypress by Agatha Christie a couple of years ago. Beside enjoying the novel, I was particularly fascinated by the title and wanted to borrow it someday. The idea for the work actually came while I was reading Hallowe’en Party a couple of months ago, which, while being completely unrleated to the other novel, had several mythological nods and made me bring up the idea once more. I jammed in also a bit of the Greek myth of Cyparissus, a hunter who accidentally killed a stag he really cared for and so was turned into a cypress by his lover, Apollo, to put an end to his misery. There is also a nod to the novel in the teacups, which played a pivotal role in the plot. Well, you can make your own story out of this picture, and I do hope you like it!
