Description

Du denkst, Du fühlst wie ich fühle?
Du denkst, Du teilst meinen Schmerz?
Du denkst, Du kennst die Dunkelheit
Tief, tief in meinem Herz?

Niemals wirst Du in meine Seele sehen.
Niemals auch nur ein Wort von mir verstehen.
Niemals wirst Du mit meinen Augen sehen.

[ Niemals – L’Âme Immortelle ]

A break from the Infernal Lords project with something different. My dear Ayl Rose took me for a tour in Milan, during which we took some photos. As you can probably guess from her hairstyle, this photo was taken shortly after Astarte.
Castello Sforzesco, Milan.

[ Never ]

You think you feel what I feel?
You think you share my pain?
You think you know the darkness
Deep, deep within my heart?

I’ve been betrayed too often, deceived too often,
Let down and used to trust someone again.
I’ve been betrayed too often, deceived too often,
Broken and spit to trust someone again.

Never will you see my soul.
Never will you understand any of my words.
Never will you see through my eyes.

Ok. she is beautiful, as is the picture. Yes. But what I find most compelling are the bars, the chain and the flower as they relate the last words you printed:

"Never will you see my soul.
Never will you understand any of my words.
Never will you see through my eyes."

We can understand the bars and chains to be a defense mechanism. But the flower!? Is it a gift from us that is appreciated yet rejected? Is it a consolation prize for falling in love with someone deeper than we could ever be?! I tell you, I find this work truly haunting.
