Description
“Wanion its oh so damndest soul!
With the devil-instrument it we shall reap,
After the banquet obscur’d in our thole,
Its blood so lovingly across our faces smear.
Give praise for the blood it bled,
Grant a rose for the dead!”
[ A Rose For The Dead – Theatre of Tragedy ]
Question: ok, but where’s the rose?
Answer: she is the rose. For the Dead. That’s why I picked the conceptual category, huh?
I must confess, the more I take photos of other people, the more I become a sadist: I’m merciless when I have them climb somewhere particular, regardless of what they’re wearing. (On the other hand, though, I always help them climb, adjust their outfit and get down). Again, an unusual angle with diagonal lines. I must say I bloody love this photo.
The greatest thing about this song, apart from the fact that I heard it live in London sung by Nell Sigland, is that, as far as I understand, the Rose of the title is really a person who becomes a sacrifice for a Vampire. I love this metaphore. Aw, the good old Vampire days…
Taken on the Scala dei Giganti (Giants’ Stairway), Trieste.
