4 O' Clock

Description

Four o’ clock.
Four o’ clock.
Never let me sleep.
I close my eyes and pray
For the garish light of day.
Like a frightened child I run
From the sleep that never comes.

Four o’ clock.
Four o’ clock.
Out of bed I creep
To climb this tower of shame,
But the hour’s still the same.
Only madness knows my name
At four o’ clock.

Why can we never go back to bed?
Whose is the voice ringing in my head?
Where is the sense in these desperate dreams?
Why should I wake when I’m half past dead?

Sure as the clock keeps its steady chime,
Weak as I walk to its steady rhyme,
Ticking away from the ones we love,
So many girls, so little time.

[ 4 O’ Clock – Emilie Autumn ]

The story behind this photo and the other ones from this series is pretty funny: my dear BriarRose and I were all around the bend for EA’s gig and wanted to take some photo inspired by her, when I watched the striped blanket of the bed I slept in and said, “You know what? This blanket really reminds me of the cover of the 4 O’ Clock EP”. We looked at each other, BriarRose put on the outfit she wore at the gig, we got some stuff to make the set look more Emilie-ish and there we were taking the photos!
The outfit was made by BriarRose herself. And yes, the blood on her wrist was intended to look fake (and you’ll se why later on).
